Our History

The Chatman-Harris Funeral Home was founded in 1982, when Leroy and Joanne Harris formed a partnership with Marjorie B. Chatman, owner of the former, Chatman Funeral Home. With the determination and leadership skills of Leroy Harris, the Chatman-Harris Funeral Home flourished at it's original location on McCulloh St. in Northwest Baltimore. In 1989, Leroy Harris, expanded the business with the acquisition of the former, Marshall P. Hayes Funeral Home. After maintaining a striving business in these two locations, Mr. and Mrs. Harris decided that in 1994, it was time to combine the two locations into a much larger and more convenient facility. In order to better serve the needs of their families they moved the business to it's current West Baltimore location on Reisterstown Road.

With all the amenities that this location offers, the Chatman-Harris Funeral Home has continued to serve many families of Baltimore and it's surrounding counties. Shortly after moving to this location, Mrs. Harris opened our on-site florist, Flowers By Josie.

In the spring of 2007, The Chatman-Harris Funeral Homes added the current East Location. Located in Northeast Baltimore, this large Colonial-Style Mansion upholds the high standards of service and surroundings that our families have grown accustomed to. Mr. Harris continues to give his families... "A Personal Touch To A Traditional Service"
