Mr. Yancy Arness Boyd

September 1, 1959 - January 24, 2022

Yancy Arness Boyd was born on September 1, 1959, to the late Maggie Ruth Williams (former Boyd) and to the late James Peter Boyd. He was the middle child of three siblings. He was raised in the 1500 block of Broadway and in the Broadway Projects on the Eastside of Baltimore. Yancy attended Baltimore City Public Schools and graduated from Joseph C. Brisco High School. He worked at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore City Housing Department, and various security agencies. Yancy went home to be with Lord on January 24, 2022, after a lengthy illness. Yancy was a quiet spirit. At times he was very funny and animated. He loved life by celebrating whenever he could. As a kid through his young adult life, he loved playing basketball until he torn his ACL. In his youth he played for “Murdock” (Project Survival) at Chick Webb and many Baltimore City’s Recreation Centers; “Mr. Lee” at Lafayette Projects; BNBL; and he was the star player at Joseph C. Brisco High School. He was a very good player too. He like playing pool, ping-pong, and cards. He enjoyed entertaining his immediate and outer-town families. He loved serving crab cakes and providing crabs for his family. Yancy’s later interests were modeling, shopping, traveling, listening to music, watching videos, going out on the town, taking pictures with celebrities, buying cars, watching his favorite football and basketball teams at home and occasionally traveling to see them out of town. In addition, he would occasionally take his late mom to see her favorite baseball team—the Orioles. Yancy lived his life. The ultimate and foremost thing he did in his life was to accept the Lord as his personal Savior. Yancy leaves to morn his sister, Rosalind Boyd; his brother; Lester Boyd; his sister-in-law, Niecy Ellis; his niece, Brittany Johnson; his nephew, Jamal Spencer; two great nieces, Tatiana and Jemia Spencer; five step-nieces, Linda and Melody Kees, Shanta, Tameka, and Shikeera Ellis; one step nephew, Tony Kees; one aunt, Thelma Peay; and one first cousins, Jay Peay; a special cousin Adrienne Eggleston; many cousins from Baltimore, Connecticut, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia; and close friends and associates. The Boyd family takes comfort in knowing that Yancy is with the Lord. Yancy was loved and will be missed. We will be having a Memorial Service to celebrate his life on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., at the Baltimore Rowing and Water Resource Center, at 3301 Waterview Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21230. Your attendance will be greatly appreciated. If you are planning to attend his Memorial Service, please RSVP at 410-488-0070.
