Theodessa Alberta Bennett, life long resident of Baltimore City,Maryland. A dedicated Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Mother,Grandparent and Faithful Friend quietly transitioned this life on Tuesday June 30,2020 at home surrounded by her family. Theodessa was born July 10,1944 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Howard T. Bennett and Gladys V.(Barnes) Bennett she was the youngest of three children. Thee ,Theo or Aunt Bee as she was lovingly known by family and friends received her formal education in Baltimore City Public Schools having attended James Mosher Elementary #145, Gwynn Falls Junior High School #91 and Edmonson Senior High School graduating with the February class of 1963. Upon graduation from high school Thee sought employment and was offered and accepted a position with the State of Maryland Department of Mental Health and Hygiene as a nurses aide specializing in psychiatric / forensic nursing. She continued to further her education earning a nursing degree from Community College of Baltimore County in addition to continuing to serve the citizens of Maryland for forty-five (45) years until her retirement from state service in the spring of 2003 concluding her career at Clifton T Perkins State Hospital as a Nursing Supervisor . Thee did not slow down after her retirement as she continued to provide care to those who were in need working in the community as a Home Health Nurse and in the State Correctional Facilities as a part-time Charge Nurse until her health was affected as the result of a stroke in 2004. Thee was a woman of many facets .. she was an extraordinary parent , fantastic chef, baker, seamstress, chauffeur, advocate and interventionist/personal gap filler. That is only a few of the many hats dawned this gem. She was many things to many people but most of all she was Ma to me. She lived her life by showing others love through the actions of doing. She was definitely a DOER whether it was by distributing her famous red soup , holiday cookies, birthday cake , making you a blanket , cooking for co- workers on her job , keeping your secrets, supporting you through the good ,bad and ugly or sliding a few coins when needed . Thee demonstrated love and caring for all who were blessed to know , love ,engage as well as be aired out by her on occasion no matter if you were family, friend, co- worker.
