Lamond (pronounced “Lay-Mond”) Jorden Clark, Sr., born in Wintergreen, Virginia to Sidney and Fannie Clark on March 10, 1939. The family moved to Staunton, where they resided on Cocheran street. Lamond attended Staunton’s Public Schools. Lamond was a worker. He did a lot of odd jobs, later he was employed at Stonewall Jackson Hotel as an elevator/bellhop operator. He caddied at the Engelside Golf Course. Lamond caddied for Sammie Sneed, Arthur Geofrey and a lot of other great golfers during his time there. Lamond enjoyed the sport and learned to play the game well himself. They offered him to travel with them, but mom said no. When he turned eighteen, Lamond left Staunton to live in Maryland with his older brother. Lamond met his wife, Gloria Chester in Baltimore. They married on August 12, 1961. There were no children from this union. Later, they adopted two siblings Jonelle and Maurice whom they loved, nurtured, and raised as their own. Lamond and his wife lived in Staunton from 1962 to 1968 (later relocating back to Maryland). He drove trucks for Washington Lumber Company, before he was injured in an accident which left him permanently disabled. Lamond was baptized at Ark Church. He and his wife were members. Lamond liked tinkering with repairing cars. He could help anyone he could. He enjoyed playing his Harmonica and the “Blues” music. All the children that grew up around him sang the blues and some learned to play the harmonica too. Don’t forget the “Dance”. Lamond’s parents and eleven siblings; John Clark, Merlin Clark, Julian Clark, Earl Fitch, James L. Fitch, Robert Crawford, Richard Crawford, Grace Wells, Bessie Salisbury, Emma Fitch, and Dorothy Baylor all preceded him in death. Lamond passed from complications from a stroke on June 19, 2021 at Season’s Hospice in Baltimore. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving devoted wife, Gloria; two children, Lamond and Jonelle (Paul); seven grand children, Diamond, Armaud, Kristian, Lanelle, “Grandboy” Kamari, Maurissa, and Nevaeh; One great-grandchild, Amoure; a loving sister, Shirley Vaughn (Joseph); Cousin, Dorothy Waller (Curtis); Two brothers, Thomas Fitch and Frank Crawford; a devoted niece, Frances Clark; and he was loved by numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
