Mr. Joseph Benjamin Gaither

April 21, 1941 - January 4, 2022

Joseph Benjamin Gaither was born on April 21, 1941 in Baltimore Maryland to parents The Late Esther Queen Gaither and Joseph Gaither. He was affectionately called Sonny. He grew up Catholic faith with his two sisters May Thomas and Miriam Hicks . Sonny had many jobs as an young adult. One work day he stopped in a Bakery where he met Sylvia. He kept coming back there. After 6 months of dating, they got married. Sonny believed that he could not father children since an accident when he was 13 years old. He was overjoyed when his daughter Deidre was born looking just like him. In the mid 70's Sonny relocated to live in the Bronx. He had a sense of humor, handsome but shy. Sonny could put anything together especially furniture without reading the instructions. He made many crafts with his numerous collection of tools. He liked Subaru cars. Sonny never grew tired of putting together Christmas toys and bikes for his grandkids year after year. Sonny began working as a truck driver for Glenwood Inc a pharmaceutical company. He worked there until his retirement Sonny never complained about the ailments he had. He had Alzheimer's disease . He had Covid in December 2021. Sonny liked listening to music of the Temptations Johnnie Taylor and Tyrone Davis. Sonny had numerous family members and close friends who preceded him in death. He lived with his Long time companion Bettye Burrell. Sonny was devoted to his daughter. Grandkids and Great Grandkids . He will surely be missed. Sonny leaves to cherish his memory Deidre (Gene), Armani and Brieanna Grant. {Josiah) . Markas Shaun Davis (Jaliahz). Faith Gaddy, Youlanda (Pete) Bunny, Vanessa, Meryl, Ronnie, Valerie, Miss Dee.
