Jonell McFadden—affectionately known as Monk—was born August 20,1949, in Clarendon County, New Zion, SC. He was the oldest son of the late Mr. Hampton lames McFadden, Jr, and the late Mrs. Lillie Pearl White McFadden. He departed this life abruptly on Monday, December 20, 2021. Jonell received his education through the Florence County (SC) School District and graduated from Carver High School in 1968, where he played both football and basketball. He moved to Baltimore, MD in 1968, finding gainful employment with several manufacturing companies. Ultimately, retiring from the industry after a career spanning more than 30 years and reaching leadership positions such as union representative. Jonell also found love in Baltimore and from those unions sons Dietrick McDufne and Rafael McFadden were born. Jonell was a phenomenal man, who cherished being a father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew and cousin. He often enjoyed discussing sports, fishing, politics and days of old. Jonell was warm, loving. a friend to many, and he will be missed. Jonell was preceded in death by his loving parents and younger brother Eugene McFadden. Left to cherish his memory are his two sons: Mr. Dietrick McDufhe and Mr. Rafael McFadden of Baltimore, MD; one loving daughter: Mrs. Brandi Johnon (Jason) of Owings Mills, MD; four devoted and loving sisters: Ms. Rosa Nell McFadden and Ms. Shelbalene McFadden of Bridgeport, CT: Ms. Shirley Ann McFadden and Gracie Ann McFadden of Lake City, SC; three grandchildren, Kenard Joy, Jr , Lindsey Ligon and Chloe Johnson of Owings Mills, MD, and a host of other family and dear friends.
