Henry Lee Hibbs Jr. was born June 7, 1944 in South Hill, V.A to the late Henry Lee Hibbs and Mary Jeanette (Walters) Hibbs Henry Jr. was called home on December 30th, 2021 to be reunited with his parents, his wife of 49 years, Helen Louise (Wyche) Hibbs, son Bryant Wyche, daughter Marie Whittington, Brother Edwin Hibbs, Grandson Antione Whittington, aunt Mamie Smith, Uncle Walter Joyner, 2 brothers-in-law Larry Wells and William Vaughn and many other family members and close friends. Henry Jr. received his education at Central Consolidated High School in Bel Air, Maryland. He was a hard-working man who loved to cuss and would be told about his language by his sisters quite often. It was nothing but normal to see him in his work clothes seven days a week. Henry started his work journey at Bata Shoe Company where he worked his way up in positions. Johnson Controls was his next step where he spent 20 years leading him to the Aberdeen Proving Ground where he worked for many years as well. Henry Jr. met his wide to be, Helen, in the late 1950s and on December 5th, 1965. They would then form a union before God and conjoin families. In 1967 they would welcome their first child together, Tyrone Hibbs. Then to follow Sonya Hibbs, and lastly Marcus Hibbs. As they raised their united family, Henry would become a widow in March of 2015 when his wife Helen went home to Glory. Henry was a loving man. One would let all the neighborhood kids pile up in his home as he did everything to accommodate them. Everything from keeping the refrigerator filled with goodies for them, to installing an air conditioner in the window to cut down all the heat they would create while cramming into one bedroom. And his all-time favorite was the bowl of jolly rancher candy by the front door. He was also a family-oriented man who loved to gather at family functions (especially holidays) for a good meal, a couple of cold ones, and some great laughs. Henry Jr. leaves behind to cherish his memories: His sons Henry Whittington, Tyrone Hibbs and Marcus Hibbs. His daughter Sonya Hibbs. Four sisters: Helen Wells, Jacqueline Hibbs, Constance Vaughn, and Linda Sadat. A sister-in-law Michelle Hibbs, a brother Keith Hibbs, Uncle Henry (Motto) Walters. 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
