Frances Jean Portee, daughter of the late James A. Parker and Marie N. Reynolds Parker was born on June 13, 1936 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on Friday, February 11, 2022 after a brief illness at Good Samaritan Hospital. Frances attended Baltimore City Public Schools where she achieved her high school diploma and continued her education at CCB. Fran, as she was affectionately known, worked in the Nursing Field at Baltimore City Hospital later known as Johns Hopkins Hospital for a duration of 30 years. Fran was a peoples person with a quiet demeanor and a gentle personality. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and listening ear. Her ability to generate laughter was phenomenal. While talking to her, one would automatically feel better due to her jovial personality, life experiences and ability to recall family events. She was baptized at Providence Baptist Church in 1979. Continuing her service to the Lord at Morning Star Baptist Church in Catonsville, where she served on the Great Commission Ministry. She was faithful and dedicated in her service to the Lord and God’s people at Future Care of Old Court Nursing Home. In 1962, she married her best friend Moses Portee Sr. who preceded her in death in December 2020, after 59 years of Holy Matrimony. She is also preceded in death by her daughters Areatha and Patricia; brothers, Clifton, Donald (Shirley), Sonny, James Jr. and sister, Shirley. She leaves to cherish her memory, children: Necie, Deborah, Michael, Moses Jr.; daughter-in-law Lisa Portee; one sister Edith Lee (Delaware); one brother Nathaniel Parker (Cynthia). She shared a special bond with Joe and Tootie Dodson, Algie and Mary Harper (Deceased), cousins Leo and Barbara Mims; 12 grand children; a host of great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
