Ethel Green Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Ethel Virginia Green, daughter of the late Warren, Sr. and Bertha (Whye) Jackson was born in Cockeysville, MD on February 3, 1943. After a brief illness, “Ethel” departed this life on June 15th, 2020. She was the second oldest of five children. Ethel was preceded in death by her father Warren, Sr.; brother Robert, Sr. (Babe); and brother Warren Jr. (Ninnie). “Grace” or “Sis” who she was affectionately known as was educated in the Baltimore County Public School System. As a child, Grace attended St. Luke United Methodist Church in Hereford, Maryland where she sang on the young adult choir. As an adult, Grace gave her life to Christ, was baptized and later joined Christ Deliverance Miracle Center. In 1961, she married the late Howard Green, Sr. and from this union six children were born, Darnell Green-Brown, Maderia Green-McCory, Howard Green, Jr., Derrick Green, Sharon Green-Alston, and Wendy Green-Willis. Grace raised her family here in Baltimore City. In 1974, Grace went to work for the Baltimore County Public School System until she retired in 1994. In her spare time, she enjoyed dancing, roller skating, and singing while cleaning her house along with her children listening to gospel music. A family gospel group was formed from this practice. In her honor the group was named “The Grace Singer’s.” She performed with the Richard Harris Singers. Also, Grace enjoyed driving tractor and trailer trucks. She leaves to cherish her memory: a devoted mother, Bertha Jackson; four daughters, Darnell Brown (Thomas); Maderia McCory (Gary); Sharon Green-Alston (Willie); and Wendy Willis (Joe-Joe); two sons, Howard Green, Jr. (Julie) and Derrick Green (Denise); (20) grandchildren;(13) great grandchildren; one brother, Cornelius Jackson (Ella); and one sister, Delemea Jackson; two aunts Ruth Whye and Mary Harmon (Rudolph); one uncle, William Whye (Lucinda ) and a host of other family members and friends.
