Mrs. Carolyn Peterkin-Ford Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Carolyn Peterkin-Ford was born on March 29, 1960 at Cumberland hospital in Brooklyn, NY. She was the 5th of 8 Children born to Maebell and Phillip Peterkin who migrated from Bennettsville, South Carolina. Carolyn attended Richmond Hill High school, but later completed her GED in 1996 at the Brooklyn Adult Learning Center. In 1980 Carolyn gave birth to her first child Octavia Bowen. She met and married Jerry Ford on January 23,1988. From this union 2 children were conceived Geri and Dominique. Carolyn too became a step mom to her husband's oldest daughter Nakina as well raised her niece Keyana. Carolyn began working as a personal care aid helping parents assist with their children. This profound passion of hers led her to becoming a foster parent. After relocating to Baltimore Maryland in 2007 she joined The Board of Child Care and adopted her now daughter Desire. Carolyn dedicated her life to God and was baptized in 1999, she loved to go to Church and praise the lord. Her daily comfort was being on the prayer lines. She always connected people's problems to God ensuring Faith and Hope. She was a believer and those around her were made certain of it. Filled with wisdom and Love, She taught her kids everything she knew from accounting to patching holes in a wall to name a few. A strong woman with a zero tolerance attitude. Her gentle and warm touch impacted everyone who crossed her path. She enjoyed baking and event planning. Always encouraging those around her to follow their dreams and pushing each one to their highest potential. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and caring wife. She leaves in Loving memory: husband, Jerry Ford; Daughters, Octavia Bowen, Geri Ford, Desire Peterkin; Son, Dominique Ford; Step daughter Nakina Spencer, niece Keyana Peterkin; 4 grandsons, Zaquan and Kash Johnson; Kaleb Ford, Sire Young; 2 granddaughters, Syina McFarlane, and Taraji Owens; 6 sisters, Hazel Mcintosh, Patricia Roberts, Sakinah Rasheed, Carmen Peterkin, Yvonne and Kim Richardson; 3 brothers, Freddie Peterkin; Khalil Peterkin and Lanzel Peterkin and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
