Betty Jean Hill, age 76, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 24, 2020, at Gilchrist Hospice Care in Towson following a 6-year battle with Stage 4 Breast Cancer. She was born May 7, 1944, in Baltimore, to Eva Hill and Edward Mack. She was reared by Eva and grandparents, Bertha and James Hill in Hereford, MD and later moved to Baltimore City. She was educated in the Baltimore County and Baltimore City School Systems and graduated from Eastern High School. Her love for mathematics motivated her to attend classes at the Community College of Baltimore. She worked for Lucent Technologies (Western Electric, AT&T) for over 25 years and retired as a payroll analyst/bookkeeper in the human resources department. She was a conversationalist who loved people and had the exceptional ability to reach people in an honest and positive way. She loved collecting African art and elephant figurines. Betty truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family, cooking, dancing, shopping, reading, serving the church (New Hope Baptist Church and Friendship Baptist Church) and spending time with Kelley and her grandchildren. She was extremely excited about the upcoming birth of her great granddaughter. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Joyce Hill. She is survived by her daughter, Kelley (Robert) Brown, grandson, Devin (Eleasia) Brown, granddaughters, Tyler and Kristen Brown, brother, Harrison Hill, nephew, Evan (Kim) Hill, sister(cousin) Delores (William) James, aunt, Bertha Goodman, uncle, Martin Mack, God daughter, Angela Hardison, lifelong friends, Jacqueline Poole, Mattie Tolson, Vivian Imes and Jesse Smith, cousins and friends. All those whose lives Betty touched are invited to the Chapman-Harris Funeral Home, 4210 Belair Road, Baltimore, MD, for visitation on Monday, June 1, 2020 from 10:00am -noon to reminisce, grieve and support each other.
