Ms. Bettie Watkins Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

On October 18, 1935, our beloved Bettie Jean Watkins was born to the late Roberta Mae Hickman Watkins and Robert Henry Watkins Jr. II. in Elkhorn, West Virginia. She finished her journey here, on July 18, 2022. Bettie, affectionately known as “Bebbie”, was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister who will be missed by all who loved and knew her. She moved to Baltimore, Maryland where she started and raised her family. Bettie received her education in the West Virginia School System. She upheld a long career as security personnel in Housing Authority of Baltimore City. Bettie had a nurturing spirit. She cared for her grandchildren and great grandchildren while also extending her care to the neighborhood youth. She was known for advising her family on how to be safe, and that same value was also extended to all she connected with. She had a deep love of all sports. She enjoyed discussing the latest sports updates and games, especially football, basketball, and baseball. She also enjoys daytimes stories, playing bingo and spending time with her family Bettie was preceded in death by her eldest daughter Linda Henderson, grandson Keith Hamlin, brothers Thomas S. Watkins and Theodus Watkins, sisters Corrine O. Watkins and Reba F. Garley, former husband Leroy Henderson and dear friend Benjamin Henson. To cherish her memories, she is survived by her daughters Brenda (The late Tony) Pearson and Benita Henson (The Late Dion Snipe); grandchildren Taliah Ward, Ashley (Matthew) Palmer, Tony (Jennifer) Pearson Jr., Anthony Pearson, Kevin Pearson, Latonya Paul, and Dionne Snipe; brothers Robert H. (Ruth) Watkins Jr. III and Raymond (Alice) Watkins, sisters Salencia W. (The Late Leroy) Thomas and Gloria W. (Franklin) Jackson, great-grandchildren, Charles, Taniah, Shyne, Ashton, Karon, Amoura, Amerah, Ahmir, Ariyah, Carter, and Tony III; and a host of other relatives and friends. The family wishes to express our sincere thanks and appreciation for the kindness and support shown throughout our period of grieving for our beloved matriarch. We thank you so much!
